Catrin and Catrina T-SHIRT RELEASE: Thursday, October 15, 9AM (PDT)

NEW t-shirt alert!

Celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with your own Catrin and Catrina t-shirt featuring Baseman’s sweet rendition of Blackie the Cat dancing with la Catrina. This artwork captures the moments imagined by the artist just a few days before Blackie the Cat followed Catrina over the bridge to the afterlife.

Día de los Muertos encourages the remembrance and celebration of the lives of departed loved ones. Originating from Mexico, this holiday represents when the border between the spirit world and the real world dissolves. During two days (November 1 for the spirits of the children and November 2 for All Saints Day), the souls of the dead awaken and return to the living world to celebrate with those they left behind.

An extension of Baseman’s longstanding exploration of mortality and loss, the artist celebrates Day of the Dead connecting with his fellow Americans of Mexican heritage, as well as his many friends and colleagues in Mexico.

Available exclusively on garybaseman.com starting October 15, 9am (PDT)

Shipping starts the first week of November.
