They agreed to collaborate as author and artist to share this important story with humanity about the Age of the Great Hate- just in time to help Humankind understand how to resolve conflict to find world peace.

Blackie the Cat (2003-2020) was the longtime creative collaborator and feline companion of artist Gary Baseman. Known for his “Power of Purr” and “Gift of Gab”. Blackie the Cat was the inspiration for Baseman’s iconic characters ChouChou and Ahwroo. He co-created The Purr Room in 2019, a sound bath installation that features Blackie’s triple purr, shared with thousands in the USA, Uk, and China since. His message of peace and compassion continues to this day to be an important part of Gary Baseman’s art.

I’m flying back to Aotearoa New Zealand this weekend!!

I’m bring my Memento Moa exhibition to the Taupo Museum, with the opening reception on my birthday, September 27!
The exhibition will run from Sept 28-Dec 9!
We will have public programming on Sept 28th!

Hope all my New Zealand friends can come out and celebrate!

This painting Big Eyes Baby Blackie was painted as a homage to Margaret Keane when she passed in 2022, based on her painting “The Stray.” Blackie the Cat originally started as a stray.
