In memory of Blackie the Cat, Gary Baseman created The Ascension of Blackie the Cat, a large acrylic on canvas painting depicting the artist’s devotion to his long-time friend and collaborator. Baseman’s contemporary interpretation of this recurring theme in Western art history shows Blackie the Cat parting from the disciples on earth, gloriously rising to a new spiritual place.
In celebration of Blackie’s life, Baseman produced a limited edition print version of this painting, with only 50 available. Signed and numbered by the artist, the giclee print on archival cotton rag art paper includes an embossment of Blackie the Cat to ensure its authenticity.
