Happy LA NOCHE DE LA FUSION DAY!
16 years ago today, I created this Mythical Holiday celebrating through an Exhibition and Art Performance here at the @coreyhelfordgallery in Los Angeles where over 2000 attended!
LA NOCHE DE LA FUSION celebrates the Night when our Societal Walls come down so we can move through them, discover and accept our True Self.
People could win artwork, masks,
t-shirts if they participated during the event. At the end of the evening, a transformation took place: the cocooned girl opened up as a butterfly.
Inspired from my travels to Brazil during Carnival and the temples in Thailand, I created this bigger than life indoor exhibition and outdoor art experience filled with live music, performers, video, games, to create an environment of transformation. I hope one day we will be able to do this again soon!

Cels when I was like 2 years old.

My older brother Sam would be given animation cells from The Jetsons and Yogi Bear, then sell them at his Jr High for a quarter a piece. I loved watching cartoons. I would constantly draw in the coffee table while watching Animation.
Knowing that the Studios like Hanna Barbera were in my hood, played an important role in my life.

Today is the 12th ANNIVERSARY of the Opening of my

Today is the 12th ANNIVERSARY of the Opening of my Museum Exhibition, THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN, at the Skirball in LA.
One of the highlights of my life where we created an ART INSTALLATION of my FAMILY HOME, mixing my parent’s furniture and mementos with my art as a Love Letter to my family and the Fairfax District where I grew up.

Hope we will be able to recreate it again someday!
