I AM YOUR PIÑATA!
I can’t believe today is the 20th anniversary of this exhibition, “I am Your Piñata and Other Paintings of Love and Sacrifice” where I explored the topics of human frailty and relationships. I dug deep into self-acceptance, exposing my own personal frailty and insecurities to help learn small truths about the human condition. How do we open ourselves up “to not be afraid to be hit my the big stick of life”?

How many LIVES do you have left?
Which life are you living now in the cycle of our NINE LIVES?
I believe every 10-13 years we move into a new life experience.
I created this painting as one of my major images for this NINE LIVES exhibition. I first drew this image on Feb 27, 2020, when Blackie was deathly ill, but he recovered to live the last of his 9 lives. I became obsessed with this image, drew it on a Chateau Marmont stationary, then painted this image on my latest sketchbook cover, and, eventually painting it on a 18x24 canvas.

LEARN THE HISTORY OF BLACKIE THE CAT.
We created a LIBRARY in my NINE LIVES exhibition to educate everyone about Blackie’s accomplishments and our special bound. We added Blackie’s artifacts, books he authored, our photos, and original art.
This is one of many art installations in my 3600 sq ft Solo Exhibition in Beijing China at the Wrong Gallery in the 798 Art District.

He could be the sweetest. He always greeted guests, was the perfect host, and make people feel comfortable with his Triple Purr.

Another Birthday! Spending so much time on my upco

Another Birthday!
Spending so much time on my upcoming exhibition, Nine Lives,
it makes one think about how many lives one has lived so far, and how many do we have left. How we go through cycles and reinvent ourselves every 9-13 years. Well, at least, I have.
I’ve generally been blessed with an existence of living as an artist my entire life. I’m grateful for it, I know I made this choice but I don’t take it for granted. I also know health, friendship, community, love, and giving back need to play as important a role.
Bosko and I and the memory of Blackie the Cat thank everyone for your love and support.
