WHERE EAST MEETS SOUTHWEST!
I haven’t seen this old commercial in years that I designed. This was for @chilis where a rabbit rides a “chili”through the center of the earth like Major Kong riding the atomic bomb to Asia! I fought to keep a scene where he passes all these demons in the core of the earth, but the client would not have it. They didn’t want any lil devils in their commercial.

Blackie & I loved Snoopy!!! So does Bosko too!!
Snoopy inspired me so much as a child, and I have so many childhood drawings with the Peanut characters!

As I continue to paint for my Fall Beijing exhibition, I love to look back at our photos & videos! I do so every morning as I start my day.
This photo was taken at the beginning of the worse of times, when Blackie returned home from the vet. He was determined to go for strolls, even when his body was giving out. #blackiethecatshow #blackiebaseman #garybaseman #baseman

A Margarita Toast to SHARON TATE and her friend’s memory on the 53rd anniversary of their murders by the CHARLES MANSON FAMILY. It is notoriously known that Sharon had her last meal at El Coyote. I started this drawing during a meal there. I included Sharon, her best friend, celebrity hairdresser Jay Sebring, coffee heiress Abigail Folger and her boyfriend Wojciech Frykowski. Charlie is being tortured in the center of the table. His Manson Demon Girls are all around. Maybe you can spot a cameo of Sharon’s husband, director Roman Polanski, and music producer Terry Melcher, who used to live at 10050 Cielo Drive before the Polanskis, and who Charlie tried to get a music deal from.

Twin Peaks!
This Red Room still hides somewhere in the back of my darkest thoughts. I was obsessed with David Lynch’s series when it first came out.
I love my version of this iconic room, with Toby as “the man from another place,” and Laura Palmer as a Wild Girl, and Special Agent Cooper as Special Agent Cooper.

ALL the cool kids came out @billieeilish & @finneas for @claudiasulewski performance! Based on @jamesmorosini TRUE very f*cked up “coming of age” with the internet story that he starred, wrote, and directed! @pattonoswalt plays his attention hungry father! Speaking of hungry, Norms had the best Grilled Cheese Sandwich hors d’oeuvres at the afterparty! This film is heartfelt and painful with the most “awkward” KISSING scene EVER!

Today is the anniversary of my mom, Naomi Baseman’s birthday. I can’t believe this year will mark the 10th year that you have been gone.
A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same. But how nutty the world has been in the last 3 years, nothing compares to what you and dad went through and survived! And how after all that trauma, you raised your four children to live optimistic lives and to be “hard workers and good people.” I don’t need to say I love you. But you know I do. I love you.

As I’m working away on a special Beijing Exhibition celebrating the Life & Teachings of Blackie the Cat, it melts my heart to look back at the Best & Most Difficult times of our relationship!
Two years ago today, I had to take Blackie to the emergency room which was the beginning of the end, forcing me to accept our fate and to make sense of how special he had been in my life. I can now take those hours and hours of Blackie the Cat strolling and prepare an installation for everyone to experience, along with so much more!

My @taschen book cover from 2005/2006!
Love this cover and the story on how it happened!! I was concentrating as a Painter exclusively for 6 years when Taschen asked me to do the cover. I thought I moved away from Illustration but I felt it was an honor that they offered. But, as I worked as a painter, away from traditional illustration, I was also creating TV, Film, Urban Vinyl, Fashion etc, and developed my term Pervasive Art. My definition of Pervasive Art was that I felt an artist, staying true to their point of view, one can and should work in any medium, creating work that could be perceived EVERYWHERE.
