WILD STYLE BOSKO
Bosko loved to leave his mark. As a young cat, he experimented with a creative practice that included fashion, performance, conceptual, and street art. As a street artist, Bosko thought of Uncle Shepard and shows at Uncle Roger’s, and listened to Hip Hop––celebrating its 50-year history. He donned on a bandana and got his cans of water-based spraypaint and got busy.

BOSKO BASEMAN (2020–2024) was named after Hieronymous Bosch, aka El Bosco, and the chocolate syrup Bosco.

Invented in 1928, Bosco chocolate syrup was marketed as a tasty “milk amplifier”. Bosko’s boundless energy reminded Baseman of his own sugar highs from this childhood treat.

THE WORLD’S GREATEST FLYING CAT
Bosko was a natural flyer who leaped impressive heights, unprompted. At first, Baseman thought the black cat was just curious, jumping around breakables. Then Bosko started using the artist’s shoulders as his landing place.

It took awhile for Baseman to learn that Bosko was trying to train him to be his assistant. Once he got a clue, he started documenting Bosko’s extraordinary feats, dubbing him the “World’s Greatest Flying Cat” for his leaps of two to four feet.

Over time, Baseman’s wardrobe of black t-shirts took on a punk rock designer look with custom holes by Bosko.

We miss you, Bosko.
