I drew my Dad as a Jewish Partisan Cat, in the image of my old pal, Blackie the Cat.
The next image is the real photo of my Dad, Ben Baseman, who survived WWII in the woods of Poland fighting as a Jewish Partisan.
The 3rd image is my collaboration with my friend Shepard Fairey of my Dad, celebrating my museum exhibition, The Door is Always Open.

Happy LA NOCHE DE LA FUSION DAY!
15 years ago today, I created this Mythical Holiday celebrating through an Exhibition and Art Performance here in Los Angeles where over 2000 attended!
LA NOCHE DE LA FUSION celebrates the Night when our Societal Walls come down so we can move through them, discover and accept our True Self.

People could win artwork, masks,
t-shirts if they participated during the event. At the end of the evening, a transformation took place: the cocooned girl opened up as a butterfly.

Inspired from my travels to Brazil during Carnival and the temples in Thailand, I created this bigger than life indoor exhibition and outdoor art experience filled with live music, performers, video, games, to create an environment of transformation. I hope one day we will be able to do this again soon!

Today is the 11th ANNIVERSARY of the Opening of my Museum Exhibition, THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN, at the @skirball_la Skirball in LA.
One of the highlights of my life where we created an ART INSTALLATION of my FAMILY HOME, mixing my parent’s furniture and mementos with my art as a Love Letter to my family and the Fairfax District where I grew up.

I based these mezuzahs from my childhood home, but added my character Veritas, who is the Magi of Truth.

We produced new ones to celebrate the 11th anniversary of The Door is Always Open at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles (April 25, 2013). The original run of this limited edition mezuzah sold out a decade ago.

Mezuzahs are placed on the doorpost of a home for protection (mezuzah refers to a piece of parchment inscribed with Hebrew verses from the Torah).
Fabricated in pewter by PIP Studios in Los Angeles, measuring 5 x 1 in.

The last photos are of happy memories of celebrating Passover with my family as a child!
